WHO DREW ME

who drew this awesome caricature of ghostbusters

hello everyone. This is Andy here and theres something thats been bugging me for awhile now , see.. i'm a huge fan of the Ghostbusters, i've seen the first and the second ghostbusters movies many times, but just the other night i was watching the first film when right after the Ghostbusters catch Slimer at this real fancy hotel, a montage of mock-up media spots run through, showing interviews and fake magazine clippings. One in which there was an awesome caricature that had been done of Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, and Harold Ramis as their characters in the film. So my couriousity immediately kicked in, i was determined to find out who had drawn it. i've checked out all searches of old and new caricatures of the ghostbusters...but theres only so much that most search engines could provide. so i guess what i asking is, does anyone out there have any idea who might of drawn this... thanx

Sarah Stieber's Art Show

Seasonal Beastress, Sarah Stieber has art up at Filter, the gay coffee shop on 30th. There's gonna be a lil reception over there on Saturday around 4 something for anyone thats into beautifully rendered prophalactics and what have you. It might sound strange, but I assure you it's all kosher. Stop in and see her work any other time during the week if you can't make Saturday. It won't be up for too much longer. So there you have it. Sarah's art show at Filter. Reception on Saturday. Name's Aaron Philby.

#1 Mermaid, #2 Shamu, Dolphin/Shark tied for #3

Well I suppose you all feel I have failed this Beastathon. And you are correct. I made it four days, and I then was defeated by the pressure to draw fast and make money. I drew and drew and ended up making $1100 two Saturdays in a row.

However, do not give up on me, for I have still been taking photos, which I will post on my own blog, hopefully tomorrow.

Oakes Beastathon

Day 4: This first couple were great to draw! They waited for me and they had just the right amount of interesting stuff going on. You know what I mean? He's got that awesome hair and a soul patch, to go along with his face which was pretty easy to figure out. She's got the big eyes, big lips, big hair, big earrings( which I didnt draw her right one, oops) and big belly. FUUUNN stuff.

Day 3: Only took a couple pictures today, it's Saturday so I was trying to draw fast and was competing with Andy for sales(I took him down).
Next time I do a wrestler sketch I'm going to try to improve on this idea. I think the angle could have been much more dynamic, but I liked trying to capture the moment of the other wrestler trying to get up as he's about to get hit.

Day 2: So far, so good. Today, my marker was singin' for me, as Aaron would say, and I also had a ton of great faces! I couldn't help by take my time on a lot of them. All together I drew 26 people today, but these were the ones I liked the best!

Nate's gonna have a fit after he see's this first guy. He's wearing a Steelers jersey, but he wanted to be drawn playing for the Cowboys!! He's lucky Nate didnt draw him

"Wrestlin' an octopus." Thats what she wanted!

*MESSED UP ANIMAL ALERT!!
He asked for a sea lion and this is what came out of me, a giant floating rat. I thought by his facial expression he needed a cigarette.

Sorry, you may have seen me just do this exact body situation, but I loved the way the guy turned out. I just wish I got a better picture of him. It wasnt even good enough to show here, use your imagination.
This girl wanted to be drawn baking.........Shamu. Not so happy with the likeness, but you just cant beat baking Shamu!

Yeah Brian that sounds good.

The photo of them doesn't really reveal what I saw when they sat, but I had fun with this one. I told her she had Britney Spears' eyes a little bit I thought. I don't know what it is, but since I've been back this is the third couple of honeymooners from Utah that I've drawn. Guess them Utes like it here. Also apparently wedding rings make hands look retarded. I promise my next post won't look anything like this drawing.

Beastathon

What I hope to do is post at least one BEASTed sketch each day I work. I'll try not to forget.
I work Mon, Wed, Thurs, Sat, Sun, so check in on those days!

This couple came up and said "can you do a crazy one for us?" I said "heck yes!"
But then they're all like "can you do professions?" And I said "yea", as I was losing interest since I knew I'd be focusing on how the hell I'm going to make two different proffessions work in one sketch rather than how I'm going to exaggerate their faces. Which I could do both no problem, but I didnt feel like taking forever on it. So I just whipped this one out going for the 'ol "quick and loose" look.

Nate Kap

Maaaaan, how cool is this?  I saw this dude at the stand for a litte while, and he ends up gettin drawn by Nate.  I overheard them two talking about caricatures and caricature artists.  It turns out he's a self-taught caricature artist from Germany, and he was in San Diego with a group of people(friends/family?) and he wanted to come to Sea World to watch me draw/ get drawn by me.  I didnt draw him but at least Nate did this incredible sketch of him( I'm posting this cause he didnt have his camera).  But that just makes me so grateful to be able to post my artwork on the web and have people from all over the world be into it.  You know what?  I like art stalkers:)

Oakes and the crew on Beast Day!

Well, it was a GREAT day for Beasting(at our stand at least)!  I was working with Nate, Jeremy, and Andrew, and we had a string of awesome customers who were really into our drawings and we stayed pretty steady, business wise, for pretty much the whole day.  We all kind of mentioned our holiday and explained to them what it was about, and they thought it was a fun idea.  We didnt get any rejects, so to me it was a success.   Andy, and Francesca werent so lucky over at Pets, but they'll have their own BEAST HEAD DAY next time they work and post some pics.

These next few sketches I did in the previous days getting warmed up for Beasthead Day.

This is Nate's friend from Ecuadaor, he was really nice and he had fun face to draw.

Also, we all drew ourselves as BEASTS and taped them to our easels!
